The Great Eye
The drifting of the image of the physical world away from what our senses perceive is nothing other than a gradual approach to the real world.
Arkenhest was originally only a research station, meant to produce the most precise and comprehensive maps of the cosmos. Investment from patrons of the great industrial families made it possible to build the Great Linhard Telescope, from then on called the Great Eye, which shed entirely new light on the so-called Constants of the Cosmos and Constants of Anomalies. It did not take long for Arkenhest to grow important enough to apply for the status of a full university. With the approval of Kohn himself, Arkenhest was admitted to the academic community, though not without protests from some institutions.
